Initiated in late 2013, SEDIMENT is an artist-run gallery and storefront located in Richmond, Virginia. SEDIMENT organizes exhibitions, produces artists publications, hosts experimental music events, educational workshops, and lectures that feature the work of relevant and engaging contemporary visual and performing artists whose work embraces interdisciplinary, multimedia and collaborative approaches to creative production. To date SEDIMENT has held fourteen exhibitions and eight performance events featuring the work of over forty local, regional, and national artists. A multifunctional space, SEDIMENT is home to a gallery, storefront, artist studios, and rehearsal space.


SEDIMENT will be offering two non-paid internship positions beginning late August of 2015.
Students enrolled in University programs should contact their academic advisor about receiving credit for their internship at SEDIMENT.


Interns receive experience in major aspects of our operations such as:

-working with artists and the Directors for the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions

-planning for exhibitions and performance events

-communications and planning for artists book publications and other press materials

-gallery sitting, retail operations both in-store and online, and educational tours

-marketing and press relations

-artist-run, non-profit gallery and small business administration

Internships at SEDIMENT last five months from August through December and January through May. We do not offer summer internships. Applications for fall internships are due August 10th, 2015. Spring internship applications are due December 1st, 2015.
