During his time as the inaugural Signal Fire Tinderbox Artist in Residence, Gary Wiseman developed a unique technique of collecting, refining, preparing, and using a wildcrafted charcoal ink/paint hybrid. Wiseman initially used his ink to paint maps of the specific burned areas from which he collected the raw charcoal.
